CHAPTER 32
Alexis
Getting rid of James after accepting his proposal wasn’t happening. Dinner was remarkable. He had steak. I ordered seafood. Staff didn’t ask us to leave after they’d closed. We left Ocean Prime at midnight.
I was cool with James taking me to his house. En route, I texted Chanel, My mom needs me. I won’t be home until tomorrow. I need to see you. Can you come by at noon?
No part of my text was a lie. My mother always needed me and I didn’t want to wait until tomorrow to taste my gurl’s pussy. If I could warm Chanel up to the idea of a lifetime threesome, and our having a baby, maybe she’d give in.
Chanel replied, Sure she does.
Her text accompanied some level of disappointment and disbelief. I’d decided not to respond to her last night. Wasn’t going to justify not making it to Pin Ups.
Dropping my cell in my purse, I said, “Babe.”
“Yes.”
“You sure you not going to change your mind about my having a female companion?”
James kept his eyes on the freeway ahead. We had about twenty minutes to go before we made it to Stone Mountain. “Have I ever gone back on my word?”
I had to ask, “Okay, so can she live with us?”
“You sure you want that? What if she wants to slide on my pole? You okay with that?”
Hell, yes. “Let me think about that,” I said, not wanting him to believe he could have complete access to my woman anytime he wanted.
I hadn’t told James what had happened to my mom. He’d be upset with me when he found out. I should tell him before we showed my mom my engagement ring.
“How’s your mom?” he asked.
Damn, like he’d read my mind. “She’s on vacation for another week. We celebrated her fiftieth last week.”
“Damn! That’s right. Shit. I forgot about my girl’s big five-O.” He reached for his cell.
I picked it up before he got to it. “Surprise my mother tomorrow. I want you to myself tonight.”
A text registered on his screen: Hey Babe, Just landed safely in LA. Thanks for—I slid the bar. Continued reading: flying me in. Can’t wait to see you again next week.
Oh, okay. That’s why his phone had been on silent all night.
Another text from the same person named Cleopatra. This was a series of pics. The guy sitting in the driver’s seat next to me was in the photos with a woman I’d never heard him mention. She was hot. Not ATL sexy. She had that Hollywood polished look. Neutral makeup on her vanilla skin. Pink lip gloss. Nude fingernail polish. I had no idea James was into anyone else.
My eyes bulged when the naked pic, no filter, popped up. I tossed my hair over my shoulder. Rocked forward. Leaned back.
“I’ll definitely make it up to her,” he said.
“To whom?”
He looked at me. I dropped his cell in the cup holder.
I thought James would never cheat on me. My ego was fucked. I had to up my game.
